In order to legalize your extension or other work inside the building, an Architect needs to check whether this change complies with multiple requirements that apply to the property, including, but not limited to CA Building Code, Local Zoning, any other applicable regulations… If complies – an Architect can develop a Project that indicates the change and file it with the Planning and Building Department. If not – an Architect can look into possible solutions of how to resolve this case including Special Permit applications/waivers and variances.
